seaside pillows finished

The seaside pillows for my SIL's school auction are finished and on their way to her!

I quilted each of the 16" pillow tops in an overall loopy pattern with a medium blue thread.

The zippered pillow backings are made from Art Gallery Oval Elements fabric in Mood Indigo. Click here to see the tutorial I always use for sewing a pillow back with a concealed zipper flap.

I couldn't resist using these fun teal colored zippers even if they are concealed :)

As I was photographing the pillows I noticed that the placement of fabrics causes a lighter colored circle with a star to appear in the center of each pillow. This black and white image makes it even more apparent. Of course the circle and star are much more evident in the left pillow, which tells me I did a better job with my light versus dark fabric placement on that pillow top. Which means I'll just have to keep practicing! My digital camera does not have a black and white image option (I edited this photo on the computer), and I'm not sure if you can take black and white photos with a iPhone - hmm - something to research.  Unless you know the answer... in which case just jump right in and tell me :)

I hope these pillows generate lots of interest and bids at the auction!

P.S. You can read more about the construction of the blocks for these pillows tops by clicking here.

  1. They're gorgeous... I love them. Great fabric choices! They do remind me of the seaside and I can see these in a home by the sea. They are really lovely.

  2. You can indeed take BW photos with the iPhone. I use it all the time to check the value of my fabrics. Love the pillows.
