quilting advice, please

Borders are on and I'm ready for the next step! But I've no idea how I'm going to quilt this... any suggestions?

I've considered outlining all the houses, giving the grass some texture, and stitching in "boughs/leaves" on the trees. Or I could just do an all-over meander. That seems a little boring, but there is already so much going on here!

Ideas?

  1. This is so lovely! I'm interested in what people suggest! I am trying to figure out how to quilt the Christmas Quilt I made with "Fresh Modern Bee". It is also very busy and have all different sized blocks. I'll probably just end up doing an all over meander.

  2. Wow, tough decision! Curious to see what others think. There's so much adorable detail here, I'd lean to keeping the quilting very simple and subtle, so it does't distract from the piecing.

  3. Love the idea of outline quilting and grass, etc. Such a beautiful quilt and outlining each house and tree would help them all shine! And even nicer there aren't big areas with nothing to outline so the quilting will be fairly even throughout.

  4. This is so adorable! YOU are nothing short of AMAZING! Your talent is unending...I check your blog daily for inspiration and you WOW me always! Thanks for the comments on PetticoatsandUndershirts. To answer your question...the fabrics are a few "Fresh Flowers" by Deb Strain for moda and some "Gypsy Bandanna" by Pillow & Maxfield for michael miller. I just couldn't leave them in the store.

  5. I don't have any suggestions for quilting other than to keep it simple. Your quilt is wonderful though, and it will be fun to see what you choose to do.

  6. Hi! I just found your site and although I am not familiar with your blog or your work I would be inclined to suggest an all over meander. It's not boring! I think it will enhance the whole little village you have going on and help secure all those seams! I think I would go with a larger versus a tighter meander! Good Luck!

  7. Fun art piece! Although your quilt is busy, it's very clean and crisp. I think an all over meander would blur the lines. I personally like visualizing your additional touches of leaves and grass. Maybe even some hand stitching just to push it over the edge. But really...how could you go wrong? It's already amazing!
